Admission Requirements:

In addition to the University’s admission requirements:

  • Cumulative grade point average of no less than 3.00 on 4.00 scale.
  • Two letters of recommendation attesting to your writing skills.
  • a Statement of Purpose addressing your writing interests, reading influences, and career-related goals (approx. 750-1000 words); send an electronic copy to and to; please send the Statement of Purpose in a separate email from your ten-page Writing Sample (see below),  and include your full name and student ID#. 
  • Ten-page writing sample in the genre you intend to pursue. An electronic copy should be sent to both Graduate Admissions at and Electronic submission must include your full name and student ID#.
