Best Use of the NJ Digital Newspaper Project, Sponsored by Rutgers University Special Collections and University Archives

One prize for the best usage of the Rutgers University collections of the Digital Newspaper archives. The New Jersey Digital Newspaper Project has contributed over 200,000 pages from New Jersey newspapers between 1852 and 1924 to the Library of Congress’s Chronicling America website (https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov). These newspapers demonstrate how communities shared information and talked about contemporary events, from the “big news” of the day—wars, politics, and innovations—to what was happening around town. To learn more about how to access these New Jersey newspapers, see https://blogs.libraries.rutgers.edu/njdnp/2019/10/24/finding-and-using-new-jersey-newspapers-in-chronicling-america/

Best Use of the Miriam Shapiro Archives, Sponsored by Rutgers University Special Collections and University Archives

One prize for the best usage of the Rutgers University Miriam Shapiro Archives, dedicated to collecting and preserving women artists' papers, publications, and organizations in the United States. The Miriam Schapiro Archives on Women Artists is one of the largest archival collections dedicated to collecting and preserving women artists' papers, publications, and organizations in the United States. Largely focused on collecting and documenting second wave feminist art from 1945 onward, the collections' strengths rest on our vast slide collections, oral histories, and documentation of feminist art organizations like the Feminist Art Program and the New York Feminist Art Institute.
