The Latin American and Latino Studies program is housed within the Department of Political Science and provides the opportunity for a degree at the BA level. Students draw from multiple disciplines to integrate a broad understanding of geography, politics, art, literature, and culture in Latin America.

A major in Latin American and Latino studies enhances student awareness of the variety of systems and cultures within Latin America and the political economy of the Americas. Students will gain knowledge and skills to pursue career paths in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors that require specialized knowledge of Latin America. The major will also increase undergraduate student preparation for possible graduate study in political science and international affairs. Students will gain knowledge and skills they can use to pursue career opportunities that expect some specialized knowledge of Latin America. The minor will also increase undergraduate student preparation for possible graduate study in political science, international affairs, or related fields.
