WPU sociology major Luljeta Beqiri won a poster award contest at the Eastern Sociological Society for her project entitled "The Experiences Between Younger and Older Muslim Women from 9/11 and Forward." The poster is based on Luljeta's research paper in which she examined how Muslim women dealt with the rise in Islamophobia in the United States after the 9/11 attacks. Her research involved eight in-depth interviews with Muslim women of diverse ages and nationalities. Professor Keumjae Park was her faculty mentor. Luljeta is a star student with a perfect 4.0 GPA. In honor of her academic achievements, she was awarded the Paul Vouras Award at the 2016 Alpha Kappa Delta Honors Banquet.
