William Paterson University Observes Martin Luther King Day on January 31 William Paterson University will hold its annual celebration of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, January 31 with a lecture by Kevin Powell, a motivational speaker, to be held at 12:30 p.m. in the University Commons Ballroom on campus. The lecture is open to the public. Admission is free. Powell is an activist, writer, public speaker, and entrepreneur. Born in Jersey City, he was educated at Rutgers University. A longtime resident of Brooklyn, he is the author of ten books, including Open Letters to America. This book is a collection of essays that examines American leadership, politics, and various social issues in the era of Barack Obama.
