William Paterson University to Hold Conference on Advances in Nanotechnology on Thursday, March 15

Cutting-edge advances in nanotechnology and the impact on fields such as cancer therapy, nursing and healthcare, and more will be explored

Cutting-edge advances in nanotechnology and the impact on fields such as cancer therapy, nursing and healthcare, industry, computing, chemical synthesis, and energy harnessing will be explored by a distinguished panel of experts during a conference at William Paterson University in Wayne on Thursday, March 15, 2012.

“New Frontiers of Nanotechnology: Changing the Future of Everything,” will be held from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the University Commons Ballroom on campus. The event is co-sponsored by William Paterson University’s Alumni Association for the College of Science and Health.

“The conference is designed to bring together a multidisciplinary community of chemists, physicists, biologists, nurses and engineers to discuss and debate cutting edge advances and exciting new challenges in fabricating, measuring and understanding the world at nanoscale as it relates to the betterment of human life,” says Bhanu P.S. Chauhan, professor and chair of the chemistry department at William Paterson. “This event will provide an open forum and fertile ground for knowledge creation, cooperation, collaboration and understanding among practitioners in these fields."

G.K. Surya Prakash, professor and George A. and Judith A. Olah Nobel Laureate Chair in Hydrocarbon Chemistry at the University of Southern California, will present the keynote address, “Beyond Oil and Gas: The Methanol Economy.” Other speakers include Steven L. Suib, professor of chemistry, University of Connecticut; Kenrick M. Lewis, corporate research fellow, Momentive Performance; Nancy Staggers, professor of nursing informatics, University of Maryland; and Naryan S. Hosmane, Distinguished Research and Board of Trustees Professor, Northern Illinois University.
