William Paterson University Symphony to Present “Legends And Heroes” Performance for Young Audiences on February 8 The William Paterson University Symphony will perform music by Rossini, Saint-Saens and Stravinsky in a program titled Legends and Heroes on Saturday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. at William Paterson University in Wayne. The performance will take place at the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus. Tickets are available at the Shea Center Box Office in advance at 973.720.2371 or wp-presents.org for adults $12 and children $10. William Paterson University students may attend free of charge. Guests are welcome to join pre-show activities at 6:45 p.m. The concert is appropriate for grades K – 8 with adult supervision; children under 4 will not be admitted. The concert, part of William Paterson’s Symphony for Young Audiences series, will feature selections from classical works that are based on great stories. Music will include the William Tell Overture from the opera by Rossini, which is based on a Swiss folk tale; Samson and Delilah, an opera by Saint-Saens based on the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah; and The Firebird, a ballet and orchestral concert work by Stravinsky based on a Russian folk tale. The William Paterson University symphony is led by conductor Sandra Dackow and composed of talented William Paterson students as well as outstanding professional musicians from the New York metropolitan area. Dackow is an internationally known conductor, educator, and ASCAP award-winning arranger.
