Violin Duo, Black Violin, Will Perform at William Paterson University on February 5


Black Violin, a classically trained violin duo that introduces a blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B and even bluegrass music, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, at William Paterson University in Wayne. The performance will take place at the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

Tickets are available at the Shea Center Box office in advance at 973.720.2371 or wp-presents.org. Tickets are $25 for Gold Circle seating, $25 for rear orchestra seating, $20 for loge and $20 for rear loge.

Black Violin melds highbrow and pop culture into one show. Since forming Black Violin a decade ago, the duo, comprised of Wilner “Wil B” Baptiste and Kevin “Kev” Marcus, have performed an average of 200 shows annually and appeared in official NFL celebrations for three Super Bowls and last years’ U.S. Open with Jordin Sparks. They also performed at the Presidential Inaugural Ball and the Kids’ Inaugural for President Obama in Washington D.C in 2013.  The pair has toured and collaborated with artists P. Diddy, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, the Eagles, and Alicia Keys, among others. The band also features ace turntable whiz DJTK (Dwayne Dayal), drummer Beatdown (Jermaine McQueen) and cellist Joe Cello (Joseph Valbrun).
