William Paterson University to Host Collage! 2015, A Concert Featuring Music Faculty and Students, on December 4

William Paterson University’s Music Department will showcase the musical talent of its faculty and students, from jazz to pop to classical, at Collage! 2015, a gala concert event on Friday, December 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on the University’s campus in Wayne.

This concert will include performances by the University’s distinguished music faculty and nearly 100 student musicians in an evening of performances that will provide a snapshot of the entire William Paterson University music program. The evening will include the William Paterson Brass Quintet and Wind Ensemble under the direction of Professor J. Craig Davis, a flute ensemble directed by Professor Karen Demsey, choral groups conducted by interim choral director Dr. Deborah Simpkin King, and the William Paterson University Symphony under the baton of Dr. Sandra Dackow. Jazz performances will include selections from Duke Ellington’s “Nutcracker” and Allen Farnham’s orchestrations of “Silent Night,” arranged for big band and full choir by James Williams. “Toccata,” a percussion work by Carlos Chavez, will be coordinated by percussion faculty members Payton MacDonald and Peter Jarvis. Karen Cafaro conducts a vocal ensemble and Professor Frank Pavese will perform Sergei’s “Etude Tabelaux in E-flat minor.”

Collage! 2015 is a benefit concert for William Paterson University Music Department’s endowed music scholarship fund.

Tickets for the concert are $25 for general admission; $23 for seniors and The William Paterson community; and $10 for all students. For additional information, or to purchase tickets, contact the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371 or purchase online at wp-presents.org.
