Psychology Major Michelle LeGrand Wins Student Art Show Competition at Northeast Regional Honors Conference in Boston

Michelle LeGrand, a graduating psychology major who is completing the clinical psychology and neuropsychology honors track, won the student art show competition in two competitions, one judged by faculty and the other by students, at the Northeast Regional Honors Council Annual Conference in Boston from March 31 through April 3, 2016.

The Northeast Regional Honors Council is dedicated to the encouragement and support of undergraduate honors education. For the 2016 conference, the theme was migration and the program included poster sessions, roundtable presentations and an art show.

LeGrand’s artwork, "Enslaved No More," is designed to bring awareness to human trafficking.  “This handmade ceramic sculpture represents various forms of enslavement in relation to human trafficking and migration around the world,” says LeGrand in a statement about the artwork. “Bricks are broken, engraved, and/or have relief sculptures, such as hands, feet, and other forms that portray modern day slavery.”
