University’s College of Education Awarded $20,000 Grant from Taub Foundation Taub Foundation partners with William Paterson to support the institution’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of teacher and student education The Henry and Marilyn Taub Foundation awarded $20,000 in support of William Paterson’s College of Education’s professor-in-residence program in School No. 28 in Paterson to serve students from preschool to second grade. This program places a University professor into a high-needs school in an advisory position to share their expertise with teachers on staff. “The professors in residence provide on-site, school-focused, professional development to teachers in their school,” says Candace Burns, dean, College of Education. “The grant underscores our responsiveness, proactive stance, and dialog with urban district partners, and our mutual commitment to work toward the best in teacher preparation.” Professional development is planned with input from teachers, administrators and leadership teams based on the goals and needs of the school and staff. The University’s professor-in-residence will collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and principals to develop and implement professional learning experiences.
