Gabriela Salvador Named 2016 Outstanding Senior at William Paterson by the University's Alumni Association The award, which has been presented annually since 1962, is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association. Gabriela Salvador and Domenico Di Maio '97, president of the Alumni Association Gabriela Salvador, who graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communication-print journalism and English and a minor in public relations, summa cum laude, was named the 2016 “Outstanding Senior” by the William Paterson University Alumni Association. The award, which has been presented annually since 1962, is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association. The recipient is selected by the Association's Executive Council based on strong involvement in extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership ability, service to the University, and high academic standing. During her four years on campus, Salvador has combined academic excellence and service. She served as assistant managing editor and contributing writer for the Pioneer Times, treasurer of the Honors Club, treasurer and assistant editor of Zeitgeist, the undergraduate literary magazine, and was a member of the Hobart Manor Revitalization Committee. Passionate about sewing and restoring historical garments, Salvador has served as costume exhibit curator, garment preservation specialist and antique textiles collection manager for the Kearny History Museum in her hometown, and completed a thesis for the Honors College Humanities Track that combined her interests in these topics titled Examining Changes in French Women’s Fashion during the Late 18th and Early 19th Centuries. A Dean’s List student throughout her academic career, Salvador was the recipient of numerous scholarships, including the Trustee Scholarship, the Honors College Scholarship, the Jack and Janice Moran Alumni Scholarship, and the Community Service Scholarship, and worked for two offices on campus. She also completed an internship at Cliché magazine.
