Master Chef Jacques Pépin to Speak on February 1 as Part of the William Paterson University's 33rd Distinguished Lecturer Series

Pépin has published more than 25 cookbooks, hosted 12 highly acclaimed public television shows and taught millions of Americans—plus an entire generation of chefs—how to cook.

Jacques Pépin, master chef, and author, educator, and will discuss his illustrious career, demonstrate techniques and provide new recipes, complete with anecdotes about his one-time kitchen partner Julia Child, on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 7.30 p.m. as part of the 33rd season of the Distinguished Lecturer Series at William Paterson University’s Shea Center in Wayne. Pépin will be joined by his daughter Claudine Pépin, who has appeared with her father on award-winning Public Television cooking shows, for a cooking demonstration. A Q&A session and book signing will follow the lecture.

Pépin shared the spotlight with the iconic Julia Child on the award-winning “Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home.” The series went on to win a Daytime Emmy and the James Beard Foundation’s award for Best National Cooking Show. The duo developed and taught a master’s degree program in gastronomy at Boston University where Pépin still teaches today.

His innovative approach to the kitchen begins with technique and ends with creation, believing that every meal should be a celebration.

“Essential Pépin” is his newest book and was accompanied by a 26-part television series produced by KQED Public Television in San Francisco. In 2012, Pépin published an updated version of his classic comprehensive cookbook titled “New Complete Techniques,” which includes thousands of photographs, 160 recipes and more than 600 techniques and methods.

The William Paterson University Distinguished Lecture Series, now in its 33rd season, provides a campus and regional audience with the opportunity to attend speaking programs featuring world-renowned figures from politics, government, the arts, literature, science, business and sports.
