The Cheng Library Archives and Special Collections serve as the final repository for selected special collections, rare books, artifacts and records of the William Paterson University of New Jersey. Our goal is to facilitate research, community engagement, and teaching. Archives and Special Collections collect records, publications, photographs, and ephemera documenting the administrative, scholarly, and social history of the University, from its founding as a Normal School in 1855 to the present day. Archives and Special Collections also hold the political papers of several elected officials, including Congressman Robert Roe, Congressman Bill Martini, and Passaic Mayor Nicholas Martini. Materials in the Archives and Special Collections are available to patrons by appointment during regular Library operating hours. To schedule an appointment contact the Archives at universityarchives@wpunj.edu or (973) 720-3932.
