Instructions for Taking Online Courses

How to Access Blackboard:

To log on to Bb point your web browser to: 
http://bb.wpunj.edu 
Enter your username and password in the spaces provided and click the login button -- you'll find your Bb course sites listed in the right hand column beginning on the first day of classes, December 26, 2017.

Your username is comprised of your lastname and first initial, usually appended with a numeral. If you don't know your WPUNJ system username password you can use the Username Lookup link.
 
Some things to be aware of as you work with Blackboard:

  • Courses will not be available to students until the first day of classes -- December 26, 2017 -- do not expect to participate in courses until then! 
  • A syllabus for each course has been posted to the Winter Session page (by October 10, 2017.)
  • Support:  
    Documents and videos for student Bb support are located on the IT Wikihttp://bit.ly/wpu-bb-stu
    Within the Bb interface students can select the Student Support link to access the same content.
    Support for Blackboard Collaborate is can be found here:  http://bit.ly/wpu-bb-collabultra
  • Help:  All Bb questions and problems should be directed to the IT Help Desk at https://www.wpunj.edu/helpdesk.  You should expect an answer within 24 hours but most responses will come more quickly.  Please include as much detail as possible, such as the department and number of your course and the exact nature of your need.
  • Browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and MS Internet Explorer are all certified by Blackboard Corp. for this version of Bb Learn but experience has demonstrated that Chrome creates the fewest problems for users.  Mac users should avoid the Safari browser and use Chrome or Firefox instead.
      • Blackboard Collaborate will only work with Google Chrome.
  • Blackboard works best when users have installed the latest version of Java -- see:

WPUNJ Student Email:
To log on to WPUNJ Student Email point your web browser to http://wpconnect.wpunj.edu and select the Email tab.
Some things to be aware of as you work with Student email:

  • Blackboard courses will use student email; third-party email addresses will not work on Bb.
  • If you are already logged in to the WPUNJ system through WPConnect you won't have to re-enter your username and password — just click the Email tab.
  • Please note: Blackboard administrators do not manage the WPUNJ email system. For help with your email account and/or connectivity issues, please contact the Online Help Desk:
