To celebrate the complete success of Summer Art in China 2011 Study Abroad Program, the Center for Chinese Art held a celebration at Power Art Center on September 29, activities including Summer Art in China 2011 photo exhibition, Summer Art experience panel discussion, a short film about the 2011 trip to China and introduction, presentation and distribution of the newly published book: Summer Art in China 2011.
Edward Weil, Executive Vice President and Provost of William Paterson University; Pamela L. Ferguson, newly appointed Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Margaret Lam and David Yen, honorary directors of the Center, attended the ceremony. Professor Zhiyuan Cong hosted the event. In his speech, Provost Weil congratulated on the success of the program and appreciated and affirmed the work of the Center. He considered "Summer Art in China" as the most in-depth and best program among the University's overseas exchange programs.
As a long-term program of William Paterson University, "Summer Art in China" was started and directed by Professor Zhiyuan Cong ten years ago. To date, hundreds of faculties and students have participated in this project and four books have been published. In addition to the research and publication fund for the book, each student received a $400 scholarship by attending this year’s program. The University and student representatives presented a plaque of appreciation to Margaret and David for their sponsorship of the event.
