Learn model making using a 3D printer, spin records like a real DJ, write novels like a published writer, learn game design, or pick up tips on how to be successful in the business world. These are just a few examples of nearly 100 courses and workshops offered during William Paterson University’s Summer Youth Programs to be held on the campus in Wayne from June 26 to August 11, 2017.

William Paterson’s Pre-College Summer Youth Programs were named among the top 25 programs in the nation by Hispanic Outlook in Education in their March 2017 issue. The University’s programs were noted as outstanding for exposing students to college-level material, emphasizing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and STEAM, which adds art to the mix, and incorporating a hands-on approach to learning.

William Paterson’s Pre-College Program for High School Students immerses students in grades 9 to 12 in a unique university summer experience from July to August. Participants choose from College Readiness, High School Academies, Arts/Communication, Technology, Math/Physics, Music, Science and Social Science programs; and students can stay in the residence halls or commute. The program gives students a sampling of different career possibilities to discover their abilities or talents, and explore the career paths that best fit them.

Enrichment Workshops for students entering grades 4 through 8 in September are designed to stimulate pre-teen and teen imaginations and creativity. In addition, the Full-Day Summer Life on Campus Program offers a unique summer day camp for students entering grades 4 to 9. A typical week includes well-supervised enrichment and academic workshops, indoor swimming and outdoor activities using University facilities, and a weekly field trip. Working parents often select this program to place their children in a safe, well-managed environment where both academic and recreational activities are offered. The program runs Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., from late June to early August.

A new summer 2017 International Youth Program will welcome a group of 200 international high school students and chaperones from July 5 to August 10, 2017.

Attend William Paterson University Undergraduate Open House on Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at John Victor Machuga Student Center to meet the Summer Youth Programs staff, learn about new program offerings, and tour the campus
