INFORMATION FOR
Jessica Super, who graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history and secondary education and minors in American studies and English literature, magna cum laude, was named the 2017 “Outstanding Senior” by the William Paterson University Alumni Association.
The award, which has been presented annually since 1962, is the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association. The recipient is selected by the Association's Executive Council based on strong involvement in extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership ability, service to the University, and high academic standing.
During her four years on campus, Super has combined academic excellence and service. She served as the student voting member of the William Paterson University Board of Trustees for three semesters, and served on the Board’s Educational Policy and Student Development Committee. She also served as a member of the Student Government Association, Theta Phi Alpha sorority, the Greek Senate, and as an Orientation leader.
A four-year member of the William Paterson field hockey team, Super was New Jersey Athletic Conference Honorable Mention All-Academic Team selection for 2014, 2015, and 2016, and was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad in 2013 and 2014.
Super, who was a four-year member of the Dean’s List, received the Student-Athlete Academic Excellence Award in 2015, 2016, and 2017. As a member of the University’s Honors College, she developed an American history comic book geared to seventh and eighth grade students as part of the Performing and Literary Arts track. She is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society, and the Order of Omega, the all-Greek honor society, and was invited to join Pi Lambda Theta, the education honor society, and Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society.
