William Paterson University Recognizes Veterans and their Families with Flag Planting


More than 5,000 flags were planted in Zanfino Plaza

William Paterson University observed Veterans Week with several events sponsored by the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs. More than 5,000 flags were planted in Zanfino Plaza on Monday, November 6 in memory of fallen United States soldiers who lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. University fraternities and sororities aided in this event as well as the Student Veterans Organization.

Augustin Castillo, former United States Marine and a history teacher at Eastside High School in Paterson, N.J., participated with fifty of his students joining the William Paterson faculty, staff, and students. 

William Paterson University has been honored as a “military friendly school” for the eighth year in a row by the 2018 Guide to Military Friendly Schools and is included in their online listing at militaryfriendly.com.
