Center for Chinese Art Hosts Chinese Hyperrealism Artist Jun Leng for Lecture/Demonstration on April 5

OilbyLENG175The Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson University will host visiting Chinese hyper-realism artist Jun Leng for an oil painting demonstration on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 2-4:30 p.m. in the Ben Shahn Center for the Visual Arts on campus. The workshop is part of the Shanghai William Chinese Art Foundation Distinguished Visiting Artist Series.

Leng is a leading figure of Chinese hyper-realism painting. He is the director of Wuhan Academy of Painting, chairman of the Hubei Federation of Literary and Art Circles, School of Oil Painting researcher at China National Academy of Painting, and a China National First-Grade painter. He currently lives and works in Beijing.

Leng is a 1984 graduate of Wuhan Normal College where he also taught for many years. His honors include the 1993 Silver Art Award at the Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition, the 1994 Artwork award at the second annual Chinese oil painting exhibition, the 1995 Golden Award at the third Annual Chinese art exhibition and the 1999 Golden Prize in the ninth National Art Exhibition; and he participated in the “100 Years of Chinese Oil Painting” exhibition.

Leng’s unique composition and masterful use of fine techniques in his oil paintings have elevated him in Chinese art circles. He is famous for his hyper-realistic paintings and drawings and his subjects are depicted with spectacular precision.
