New Strategies for Encryption and Data Breach Protection to be Explored During 4th Annual Cyber Security and Big Data Analytics Symposium at William Paterson University

The fourth annual conference focusing on new strategies for encryption and protection against data breaches will be held at William Paterson University on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1600 Valley Road in Wayne. Steve Lutinski, director, cyber security services, Verizon Enterprise Solutions, will be the keynote speaker.

“Cyber Security and Big Data Analytics Symposium: New Strategies for Encryption and Protection Against Data Breaches” will explore vulnerabilities and how industries are changing their responses to threats.

 “We’re bringing together leaders from healthcare, logistics, telecommunications, technology, education, and finance to share their experiences dealing with Big Data’s volume, variety, and velocity, along with the challenges of keeping huge volumes of highly confidential data secure from cyber threats,” says Bernadette Tiernan, executive director of the School of Continuing and Professional Education at William Paterson. “Cybersecurity and big data analytics are becoming intertwined, and we want to help companies in the region understand these pressing concerns,” says Kate Muldoon, regional director of the William Paterson University Small Business Development Center. “It’s very important for all businesses, whatever their size, to have a plan.”

The conference will include two panel discussions. At 11:15 a.m., David Rossi, IBM, cyber security architect for IBM z System, will moderate a discussion aboutExploring Vulnerabilities and How Industries are Changing Their Responses to Threats.”   

At 12:45 p.m., Samuel S. Conn, president and CEO, NJEdge.Net, will moderate a discussion of “Industry Trends to Assess Vulnerability and Evaluate Compliance vs. Risk” with participants Linda Reed, chief information officer, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center; Eric Shafto, manager enterprise information technology security, AIG; Steve Lutinski, director, cyber security services, Verizon Enterprise Solutions; and Eric Gutenberger, senior manager, systems programming at UPS Information Services.
