University Celebrates Black History Month with Lectures, Service and Creative Arts

Lectures, community service, and creative arts support the theme “Power to the People” for William Paterson University’s annual observance of Black History Month during February 2019.

This year’s theme “Power to the People” focuses on what it means to have a powerful social justice platform for advocacy, change and reform within the black community and beyond. Events include:

Friday, February 1

• Brooklyn Museum Bus Trip to view exhibit,
  “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power”
  Pick up at Lot 5 at 11a.m. and drop off at 5 p.m.

• “Phirst of All: I’m Woke,” discussion about social justice issues
