The William Paterson University Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies will host Gina Lanceter, a Holocaust survivor, to speak about her experiences at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Valley Road Campus. This event is free and open to the public.
Lanceter, born Eugenia Hochberg and raised in Brody, Poland, spent the last six weeks of World War II concealed in a hole under a bed where two German officers were billeted. She later married Henryk Lanceter in July 1945, and five months later left for Germany. The couple stayed in the Finkenschlag displaced persons camp in Fuerth where their daughter Dina was born in 1947. In the summer of 1949, the family emigrated to the United States. Their son Arnold was born in New York in 1950. Lanceter currently resides in Montclair, NJ, and is an active member of the Holocaust Council of MetroWest and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education.
The event, “A Holocaust Survivor Tells Her Story,” is co-sponsored by the student organization, Hillel, who will provide a spread of kosher for Passover snacks.
