William Paterson University to Launch New Adult Degree Completion Program in January with Expedited Schedule for Working Professionals

William Paterson University in Wayne is launching a new Adult Professional Degree Completion Cohort Program through its School of Continuing and Professional Education beginning in January 2020 for adults who have attended college but did not complete their bachelor’s degree.

The new program is designed to help adults in high-growth fields earn their degrees on an expedited schedule that maximizes efficiency for busy working professionals. The program will launch in January 2020 for students who wish to complete a bachelor of science in health studies. Additional degree programs in communication studies and computer science are expected to begin in fall 2020.

“Many positions in high-growth fields as such healthcare, technology, and business require a bachelor’s degree whether for an entry-level position or for a promotion,” says Bernadette Tiernan, executive director of School of Continuing and Professional Education. “Our new Adult Professional Degree Completion Program is focused on providing busy working professionals who already have college credits with bachelor’s degree programs designed specifically to bring adult learners to the finish line as quickly as possible.”

The cohort program offers courses in a fixed sequence that incorporates weekday online sessions and Saturday in-person meetings held during spring, early summer, fall, and winter sessions. All in-person classes will be offered at the School of Continuing and Professional Education’s 1600 Valley Road location, providing easy access to parking, classrooms, and advisors.

Adult professionals who have previously completed 60 or more credits and require an additional 60 credits to finish their degree are eligible for the program. Participation in the program includes an assessment of prior learning, work experience, competencies, and professional licenses/certifications. Support services will be available through the School of Continuing and Professional Education to assist with enrollment, registration, and career advisement, as well as to strengthen academic skills and life/work balance.

Applications are now being accepted for the first cohort in health studies to launch in January 2020, followed by fall 2020 cohorts for health studies, communication studies, and computer science.  For information, please call the School at 973-720-2354 and visit www.wpunj.edu/cpe.
