Take a Trip Back in Time with Virtual Concert by the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra on April 14

The Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, the leading professional ragtime orchestra in the United States, recreates the syncopated stylings of the early 1900s in a virtual concert on Wednesday, April 14 at 8 p.m. as part of William Paterson University’s WP Presents! Virtual Wednesdays series.

Their program takes viewers on a time machine back to the fun and excitement of the early 20th century, featuring classic music by Scott Joplin and George Gershwin, and even pop favorites by the Beatles and Queen. It also includes classic silent films underscored by a 12-person orchestra with live music and sound effects

Under the direction of Andrew Greene, the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra has performed at a wide variety of venues, including the Kennedy Center, the Library of Congress, the American Film Institute, historic theaters, major performing arts centers, universities and more across the United States. The music performed they perform is drawn from a collection of historic orchestral scores, totaling more than 15,000 selections. They record for Rivermont Records, which focuses on recordings of ragtime, vintage jazz, and dance bands.

Tickets are “pay what you choose” at $10, $15, $20, $25 and $30. Tickets must be purchased in advance. For additional information, call the Shea Center for Performing Arts Box Office at 973-720-2371 or visit wp-presents.org.
