Folk Icon Tom Paxton and Singer-Songwriter Duo The DonJuans Present Virtual Acoustic Concert on April 17


The internationally recognized folk icon Tom Paxton teams up with the award-winning singer-songwriter duo The DonJuans, comprised of Don Henry and Jon Vezner, for an intimate, acoustic concert as part of William Paterson University’s WP Presents! series on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 8 p.m. The livestreamed concert will be followed by a short Q & A with the artists.

Paxton’s career spans more than 50 years, including performances at thousands of concerts around the world. His songs include “The Last Thing on My Mind,” “Ramblin’ Boy,” “Bottle of Wine,” “Whose Garden Was This?”, “Goin’ to the Zoo,” and “The Marvelous Toy,” and he is known for his songbooks, critically acclaimed children’s books, award-winning children’s recordings, and a catalog of hundreds of songs. Paxton has received multiple Grammy Award nominations and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy ion 2009. He also has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from ASCAP and the BBC.

The DonJuans have been awarded the highest accolades in songwriting. Their song, “Where’ve You Been” (recorded by Kathy Mattea), was the first song in country music history to sweep all major song of the year honors including the Grammy, Academy iof Country Music, Country Music Association, and Nashville Songwriter’s Association International awards. Since then, the DonJuans have performed in venues from the Bottom Line in New York City to the Bluebird Café in Nashville, sharing stages with artists as diverse as Joey Ramone, John Hartford, Michael Johnson, and David Crosby.

Collectively, songs by Paxton and The Don Juans songs have been covered by Harry Belafonte, John Mellencamp, Miranda Lambert, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles, Judy Collins, Pete Seeger, Janis Ian, John Denver, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, and Bob Dylan, among others.
