William Paterson University’s College of Education Maintains Prestigious CAEP Accreditation for Promoting Excellence in Educator Preparation

William Paterson University’s College of Education has received a stellar reaccreditation evaluation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for the College’s bachelor’s and master’s programs leading to teacher and leader certification. The reaccreditation is effective seven years, from spring 2021 through spring 2028.

CAEP is a nationally recognized accrediting body for advancing educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.

The reaccreditation comes after the CAEP conducted a full review, including an on-site evaluation. The review entailed a rigorous process that evaluated the College for five standards: content and pedagogical knowledge; clinical partnerships and practice; candidate quality, recruitment, and selectivity; program impact; and provider quality assurance and continuous improvement. The College met all standards in these five areas with no areas for improvement noted. 

“We are thrilled not only to receive full accreditation for another seven years, but to do so with no identified areas for improvement,” says Amy Ginsberg, dean of the University’s College of Education. “This accomplishment affirms our continuing goal of meeting the highest standards for preparing teachers, leaders, and school professionals. We are emboldened to continue our commitment to continuous program improvement. Even with this validation, we know there is always room for growth and development.”

Dorothy Feola, associate dean of the College of Education, and Joelle Tutela, director of accreditation and educational innovation, spearheaded this effort and ensured that our self-study and site visit showcased the excellence and hard work of our College,” adds Ginsberg.
