School of Continuing and Professional Education Holds Celebration Event for Students Completing Transitional and Career Readiness Program

Transition and Career Readiness Program Class June 2021

Eleven area high school students who met virtually for nine months were excited to finally meet in person and receive their certificates of completion this June as part of the Transitional and Career Readiness Program offered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education at William Paterson University.

The program helps young adults aged 18 to 21 with moderate learning disabilities find their path to a career, independence and learning. This group of students completed courses in subjects such as health, culinary and baking for hospitality services, child development, graphic design and video communication.

Through the program, the University collaborates with area school districts to provide high school students with the opportunity to learn a skill, be employable, and be independent. Participating schools Wayne School District, Lakeland Regional High School, Passaic Valley Regional High School and Benway Schools in Wayne, N.J.
