William Paterson University’s Music Department kicks off the fall 2021 semester with the musical comedy I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. Performances will be held on the campus in Wayne from Friday, September 10 through Sunday, September 12 and Friday, September 17 through Sunday, September 19 at the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

Performance times are Fridays at 5:00 p.m., Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. General admission is $15, and $10 for senior citizens and William Paterson faculty and staff. Student admission is $5.

The longest-running Off-Broadway revue in history, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, written by Joe DiPietro with music by Jimmy Roberts, is a hilarious musical that has been revised for the 21st century to better reflect the trials and tribulations of modern dating. From early courtship follies, to exploring the art of love during your golden years, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change brings audiences on a humorous journey through love and loss.

“I'm very pleased we can present ‘I Love You’ at William Paterson. The show is a challenging one; it involves a lot of specific comedy and requires the student performers to get in touch with various aspects of their lives and thoughts,” says Christopher Herbert, assistant professor of music at William Paterson and producer of the revue. “I am thankful to the Music Department and the Ruth Silverman-Rosenbloom and Victor H. Rosenbloom Foundation for making this production possible.”

The cast includes current William Paterson students Isabella Cacciottolo (Parsippany, NJ), Alejandro De Los Santos (Dover, NJ), Thomas Jefferson (Cape May Courthouse, NJ), Bridget Maresca (Fair Lawn, NJ), Salvatore Montero (Washington Township, NJ) and Brenna Moran (Wayne, NJ), all playing multiple roles. Current William Paterson student Kayla Hoogmoed (Boonton, NJ) will be on keyboard. The show is directed by Edward Matthews, with musical direction by Charity Wicks.
