William Paterson University’s Center for Chinese Art Hosts Cross-Cultural Symposium, “Dialogues: East and West—A Contemporary Art Forum,” from November 8 to 10


“Dialogues: East and West—A Contemporary Art Forum,” a cross-cultural symposium focused on the development and future of Eastern Western contemporary art, will convene at William Paterson University from November 8 to 10, 2021. The three-day event will include lectures, discussion and presentations on a wide variety of artistic topics.

The event is hosted by the University’s Center for Chinese Art in conjunction with the Department of Art, and College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and is presented as part of the Shanghai William Chinese Art Foundation Distinguished Visiting Artist Series. Featured participants will be members of the Chinese-American Art Faculty Association who are scholars, artists, and professors and have teaching experience throughout the U.S.

“This three-day event will introduce the works of contemporary artists from the East who have exhibited in New York‘s museums in recent years, examine the status quo and development of contemporary Chinese art, discuss the trends and future of modern technology and art, and further help our students and listeners to understand these aspects and think about contemporary art from all directions,” says Zhiuyuan Cong, professor of art and director of the Center for Chinese Art at William Paterson.
