William Paterson Pays Tribute to Veterans with Special Events Beginning November 10

William Paterson University will host three special events paying tribute to veterans and fallen soldiers of the global war on terror during the University’s Veterans Week 2021 celebration beginning on November 10.

For Remembrance Day, sponsored by the Office of Veteran & Military Affairs and Campus Activities, Service & Leadership, a video with the names of fallen New Jersey soldiers who lost their lives in the global war on terrorism will be displayed in University Commons 171A/B on Wednesday, November 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

During this time, students will be invited to assemble care packages containing toiletries such as soap, toothpaste, razor blades, and deodorant, which will then be donated to the Veteran Services office in Paterson.

On Thursday, November 11, 5,000 flags will be planted in Zanfino Plaza in memory of fallen U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in the global war on terrorism. The flag planting begins at 12:00 p.m. and concludes at 2:00 p.m.

William Paterson University President Richard Helldobler will be in attendance, and WP students and faculty members are invited to join student veterans with the planting of the flags. The flag planting is sponsored by the Student Veterans Organization and the Office of Veteran & Military Affairs.

The Career Development Center and Office of Veteran & Military Affairs will present a LinkedIn 101 presentation, hosted by public relations consultant Jessica Cid, as part of its Veteran Career Workshop on Tuesday, November 16 in the Atrium Auditorium at 12:30 p.m.

During the workshop, Cid will highlight the key elements of LinkedIn and show students how to increase their marketability and be seen by more employers during recruitment searches, as well as discuss how to market oneself as a veteran.
