Alumni from the Class of 1973 recently celebrated a very special milestone: the 50th anniversary of their graduation from William Paterson.
On May 31, members of the Class of 1973 participated in the undergraduate Commencement ceremony at Prudential Center in Newark. Those in attendance joined in the academic procession, following the new graduates into the arena; they also received special recognition during the ceremony.
The following day, June 1, more than 50 members of the class returned to campus for a 50th Reunion Luncheon, where they were able to reconnect with classmates, reminisce with friends, and reflect on their experience at what was then known as the William Paterson College of New Jersey. Individuals traveled from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida to join in the festivities.
Following the luncheon, alumni had the opportunity to take a tour of campus and learn about the many exciting changes that have occurred since their time at William Paterson.
“We have evolved and so has WP. We can make the choice to remain connected to our alma mater, as I have through my fraternity, Skull and Poniard,” said Dr. Michael D. Santoro '73, leader representative for the Class of 1973’s 50th Reunion and Alumni Executive Council member. “There are many ways to support the University including purchasing a brick, attending Homecoming and other alumni events, mentoring, and donating to scholarships.”
Members of the class generously raised funds for a scholarship in honor of their milestone reunion.
