Forbes Recognizes William Paterson University as One of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey after Annual National Survey

William Paterson University has been named to Forbes’ prestigious “Best In-State Employers” list for 2024, recognizing the institution as one of the best-ranked employers in New Jersey based on nationwide surveys.

WP is one of four higher education institutions on the Garden State’s list this year.

William Paterson University employs close to 1,000 full-time professionals who work in a variety of positions ranging from professors to administrative staff, physical plant operations, campus police, athletics coaches, academic advisors, managers, and more.

“I am proud of this recognition from Forbes, which reflects the good work that everyone at William Paterson is doing to make this a great place to work,” says University President Richard J. Helldobler. “All of our faculty and staff are motivated by a common mission of helping our students succeed and that, coupled with our emphasis on professional development and career growth, makes for a very rewarding professional environment.”

William Paterson is a strong proponent of employees growing their careers there. More than fifty percent of the University’s roles are filled by promotions from within. WP also boasts flexible work arrangements, tuition remission for employees and their dependents to pursue a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree on campus, and a summer learning and development program that has been nationally recognized for its innovation.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 160,000 workers nationwide who are employed by companies with at least 500 people. Respondents were asked about their current employer, as well as any previous employers they’ve had in the past two years. The anonymous survey covered such topics as the employee’s experience with working conditions, compensation and benefits, potential for growth, diversity, and more.
