Abstract

In a global atmosphere characterized by an extreme need for diligence by financial institutions on one hand, and the desire to take advantage of global financial opportunities on the other, organizations are faced with some tough choices. What are the criteria against which global investments to be evaluated? Mr. Kazmy, who has a wealth of experience dealing with such situations, will break down the decision process, both by discussing evaluative criteria and by providing some examples whereby investing firms were able to make such complex decisions.

Speaker Bio

Mr Ali Kazmy is an executive leader with nearly 30 years of experience and strong track record of success protecting banks from compliance risk in anti money-laundering (AML), terrorist financing, Bank Secrecy Act Violations, and fraud.

Mr. Kazmy has been in the banking profession since 1990.  He started his career in the Operations side of banking and gradually moved to management. During his operations side career, he handled Trade Finance and Services, International Banking Facility, Clean and Documentary Collection, Traveler Check processing, Human Resources, Credit Administration and Branch opening.  In 1999 he moved to Regulatory Compliance, initially focusing on Consumer protection regulations and then on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance. He has spent the last 16 years in the AML space, including but not limited to AML Advisory, Policy & Program development for high risk products and client segment, Risk Assessment, AML Transaction Monitoring, Alert Reviews and Threshold Setting, Suspicious Activity Reporting.  He has been part of several management committees.  

Mr. Kazmy has spent a majority of his career with large Financial Institutions, which includes HSBC USA and Citi Bank.  He recently started his independent AML consulting company, KAZALI, Consulting LLC, which provides AML expertise to banks facing regulatory actions and/or is looking to strengthen their AML programs.
