Program Description:

This certificate program is designed for experienced classroom teachers who hold a teaching certificate and an accredited master's degree. This program is offered online only with synchronous and asynchronous delivery. Upon successful completion of the required curriculum, the candidate is eligible for the New Jersey certificate as a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant (LDT-C). This certification is not a teaching certification, but a certificate to serve as the LDT-C on the child study team in New Jersey schools. Upon successful completion of the required curriculum and documented three years of teaching experience, the candidate is eligible for the New Jersey certificate as a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant (LDT-C).

Please allow 4-6 weeks for applications to be processed.

The N.J.A.C. 6A:9-13.10 requires three years of successful teaching before a certificate is issued.

December 1st: Spring semester
May 1st: Summer semester
*Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed on a space availability basis

*International students are advised to apply by:
April 1st: Fall (September intake)
November 1st: Spring (January intake)

Admission Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university and official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended.
  • Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA
  • A copy of standard NJ teaching certificate
  • Record of Professional Experience (ROPE) form: This is completed by an administrator or Human Resources personnel at your district documenting three or more years of full-time teaching experience.

Information Regarding LDT-C Clinical Component 

In order to receive a permit to register for SPED 6570 Seminar in Clinical Application of Learning Disabilities, you must submit the following paperwork:

  • Application for LDT-C Clinical Component
  • Resume for Clinical Work (4 copies)

AND

  • If you are doing the clinical component in your own school, you must also submit the LDT-C District Permission Letter

Please keep the following dates in mind as you complete the paperwork:

Please turn all completed and signed paperwork in to the Graduate Director by the above due dates and be sure that all paperwork is neat and complete, or it will not be accepted.
