Acumed is a medical company that manufactures plates and screws for fractures that require orthopedic surgery, specializing in the upper extremity. As a Medical Device Representative, I am responsible for the logistics that ensures the equipment arrives to the respective hospital or surgery center to be sterilized and processed. I am also present at each surgery to assist the surgeons and staff on which instruments and implants to use, how to use them, and in which order to use while simultaneously providing valuable input to result in a successful bone repair. Furthermore, I am responsible for all aspects of sales, maintenance of inventory at our office and various accounts, and marketing. Throughout my curriculum at William Paterson, I have learned extensive anatomy and physiology knowledge that allowed me to excel in my current role. Along with specific major-related knowledge, general education such a public speaking, work ethic, and socialization has made me a more competent individual. This career opportunity was presented to me by Professor LaSala and without William Paterson University, I would not be where I am today.
