Lavender Graduation Ceremony

Lavender Graduation is a special ceremony for LGBTQIA+ and Ally undergraduate and graduate students to acknowledge their achievements, contributions, and unique experiences at William Paterson University.

The fourth annual Lavender Graduation Ceremony will be on Friday, April 26, 2024, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the UC Multi-Purpose Room. Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP on Pioneer Life. The experience will not be lived streamed.  Following the Graduation is PRIDE PROM from 7:30 p.m. - 10 p.m. 

Receive your Lavender Graduation Regalia

Lavender Graduation cords and certificates will be presented at the Ceremony. Please RSVP on Pioneer Life. All graduates who would like to receive a complimentary Lavender Graduation cord to wear with graduation regalia, please complete the following form:

*LGBTQIA+ Graduates receive a rainbow stole in addition to the cord.

Lavender Leadership Award - Recognizes an individual for outstanding leadership, dedication and service within the University, or in the community that has resulted in new resources, services or programs for LGBTQIA constituents at William Paterson University. 


Building Bridges Award - Recognizes lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or ally individual for their tremendous efforts to serve the LGBTQIA+ community by building coalitions and fostering understanding among our diverse community. Additionally, this individual serves as a role model for their peers and demonstrates commitment to raising awareness of, and lobbying for, LGBTQIA+ issues and events at William Paterson University.   


Pride Alliance Rising Star - Recognizes a Pride Alliance member that puts their heart and soul into everything they do. This person goes above and beyond typical requirements of a student organization member, they take initiative to support Pride Alliance events and actively do more.


Outstanding Ally Award - Recognizes an LGBTQIA+ ally whose words and actions have helped to make William Paterson University a more inclusive campus for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
