Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff:

Please join me in bidding a fond farewell to the 38 dedicated and valued members of our community participating in the Voluntary Separation Program, for whom today is their last day on the job.

I am glad that this group is able to take advantage of the VSP to transition into retirement, a new job or career, or whatever the next phase of life holds for them. I am grateful to each of them for their many years of hard work on behalf of WP. It is impossible to overstate the impact that they have had on the development and success of this University. They have enrolled, educated, served and supported our students while nurturing their intellectual and social development and their emotional and physical health and well-being. They have ensured that we all have a safe and beautiful campus in which to work and that the University operates smoothly and effectively in support of our entire community.

All of which makes it hard to see them go. I thank them all for their great service to William Paterson University and to our students, who are the ultimate purpose for all that we do here.  As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, we will join together to celebrate these individuals in person, when we are able. In the meantime, we are putting together a virtual celebration, which I will share soon.

While, come Monday, these individuals may no longer be our colleagues, they will always be our friends, and they will always be Pioneers. I wish them all the best, and I thank all of you for your continued good work!

Sincerely,

Richard J. Helldobler, Ph.D.
