Qualified international students can pay close to our affordable in-state rate for tuition and fees.  With an increasing number of international students representing 64 countries, and some of the nation's highest rates of cultural and ethnic diversity, at William Paterson you will study in a vibrant community, sharing your university experience with students and professors from every background and perspective.

For main campus International Students the Pioneer Award can provide an 80% discount on the difference between in- and out-of-state tuition.

The campus is set on 407 wooded acres in suburban Wayne, New Jersey and is located just 20 miles from New York City. The University enrolls both residential and commuter students, and also has a wide selection of programs during summer session.

Please note that the following criteria apply for the international tuition differential waiver:

• Enrolled international students must have a primary residence outside of the United States and its territories and are not eligible for in-state tuition. International students must possess a valid student visa, inclusive of F1/J1.
• Undergraduate and graduate students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment in the Fall and Spring semesters. Undergraduates must maintain a 2.0 cumulative WP GPA and graduates must maintain a 3.0 cumulative WP GPA to renew the waiver.

Approximate amounts for Fall 2024*

Undergraduate (Estimated on full-time enrollment of 12 or more credits per semester for 2 semesters):

Graduate (Estimated on full-time enrollment on 9 credits per semester for 2 semesters):

• • $6,500 

*These award amounts will be adjusted each year to correspond to changes in tuition.

Policy

Please note that the following criteria apply for the international tuition differential waiver:

• Effective for new Main Campus (MC) international students admitted and enrolling for the first time in FA24 and onward. International students admitted/deferring and enrolled under the former policy will continue under that policy until they graduate. The legacy policy (100% Waiver) applies to the current degree program only.
• All new international students, undergraduate and Graduate, will now receive an 80% discount on the difference between in- and out-of-state tuition, with the exclusion of students pursuing Terminal Degrees who are not eligible.
• This applies to all terms: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.
• Students must remain in good academic standing to maintain the award.
• Not applicable to any WP Online programs or second-degrees.
