Graduate Music Education Certificates

Program Description:

The Music Education Professional Certificate Program offers 12-credit graduate certificates that provide high-level professional development for practicing music educators. With this flexible program it is possible to complete stand-alone certificates or to “stack” two professional certificates with our 15-credit Music Education graduate core to complete a Master of Music with concentration in Music Education.

Available Summer Certificates include:

  • Jazz Pedagogy: a certificate program for practicing music educators whose specialty is not jazz. This certificate, which can be completed in one calendar year, consists of 3 courses and a semester of applied lessons. It can also be stacked with other courses to complete a Master of Music.
  • Orff Schulwerk: a certificate program for practicing music educators offered in conjunction with the Northern New Jersey Orff Schulwerk Association. This certificate consists of 3 Orff Schulwerk certification courses offered over successive summers plus three 1-credit workshops throughout the school year. It can also be stacked with other courses to complete a Master of Music.

Certificate courses are also available to Master of Music students not enrolled in the certificate programs.
