2022-2023 data not yet available as of July 2024 Candidate Competency at Completion; Title II (Initial & Advanced levels) The College of Education (COE) measures initial completers’ ability to meet licensing requirements through the examination the eligibility of candidate’s meeting the NJDOE administration code requirements (benchmark data), which include: 1) 3.0 cumulative GPA, 2) meeting the NJDOE cut-scores for Praxis CORE or other basic skills assessment, 3) meeting the NJDOE cut-scores for Praxis Subject Assessment(s), 4) successful completion of student teaching and 5) meeting NJDOE requirements for EdTPA (requirement removed during winter of 2022/2023). Candidates completing teacher preparations programs including internship in an experienced P-12 teacher’s classroom can apply for certification to the state individually or through WP’s Office of Education Enrollment and Certification (OEEC). Most often, students apply through OEEC. For the last three years, nearly all of our candidates who completed WP initial programs met the requirements of the NJDOE administrative code and applied for NJ state licensure through our OEEC. Below are percentage and number of program completers who were recommended by the OEEC who were subsequently certified. 2022: 100% (n=134) 2021: 91% (n=156) 2020: 98% (n=110) 2019: 99% (n=135) 2018: 99% (n=145) Title II results (Traditional and Alternate Route) The percentage of WP traditional program completers (Undergraduate, Post-Baccalaureate and MAT) who met the licensure required assessments of PRAXIS Subject Assessment, edTPA, and OPI/WPT (if required), as reported in Title II: 2021-2022: 96% 2020-2021: 92% 2019-2020: 97% 2018-2019: 100% 2017-2018: 100% The percentage of WP Alternate Route program completers who met the licensure required assessments who met the licensure required assessments of PRAXIS Subject Assessment, edTPA, and OPI/WPT (if required), as reported in Title II: 2021-2022: 94% 2020-2021: 100% 2019-2020: Not reported (the total number of the population is less than 10) 2018-2019: 93% 2017-2018: Not reported (the total number of the population is less than 10) Advanced Program: The COE measures advanced completers’ ability to meet licensing requirements through an examination of their eligibility to meet the NJ DOE administration code requirements (benchmark data), which include: 1) program completion, 2) 3.0 GPA, 3) years of experience (if applicable), and 4) master’s degree conferral (if applicable). Graduate program directors verify, through an audit, that all NJ DOE licensure requirements are met. It is important to note that Advanced Program completers may or may not apply for licensure in the same semester they complete an advanced program. Additionally, some M.Ed. program completers may have already earned a relative license from prior completion of a related certification program. Other completers may have pursued programs for professional enrichment, not for certification pursuits. For the last three years, many of our candidates who completed our advanced programs were nominated for certification through OEEC and were subsequently certified by the NJ Department of Education. Below are percentages and numbers of program completers who were recommended nominated by the OEEC were NJDOE certified. Once a completer is nominated for certification, the completer has up to a year to take some steps in the state’s system, claiming the nomination, and obtaining the certification. 2022: 95% (n=163) 2021: 98% (n=72) 2020: 72% (n=109) 2019: 66% (n=95) 2018: 83% (n=105) Data Source
