Academic Spanish Language Support

Academic Spanish language support is available to LEES pre-service and in-service teachers. Upon acceptance to the program, all candidates take a diagnostic test that assesses the candidates’ Spanish oral and written proficiency. The diagnostic test helps determine the level of Spanish support, if any, that candidates may need to succeed in the Spanish Written Proficiency Test (WPT) and Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) exams required for the New Jersey Bilingual/Bicultural Standard Certificate.

In preparation for the OPI and WPT, Spanish language coaches offer LEES pre-service and in-service teacher individualized language support that aims at:

• Enhancing academic Spanish oral skills
• Fostering the development of academic Spanish written skills
• Facilitating review and preparation for the Spanish WPT and OPI
