This minor is for students interested in recording, producing, arranging, mixing and mastering music; using the laptop as a complete production tool. The two main courses - Digital Music Creation I and II - will step the student through the process of creating a complete and compelling musical production beginning with the very basics of digital audio workstations and ending with a completed album in collaboration with other musical creators. The DMC minor is different from our SEA (Sound Engineering Arts) minor because the SEA minor is primarily a sound engineering minor, whereas the DMC is primarily a digital composition minor. There is some overlap in content, but the intent and focus are fundamentally different. SEA students spend more time working with both digital and analog equipment, and go deeper into the science behind audio production, including electronics, acoustics, and the construction and maintenance of recording studios. The DMC students are more focused on composing original music through the digital medium. This minor is open to all WPU students who have taken MUSI 1240 Music Fundamentals or possess similar music knowledge. Some of the topics covered include: Producing a musical accompaniment Sound selection and sound design Beat making Audio recording and editing Analysis of current production techniques Recreation of current production techniques Song structure and arrangement Recording and editing vocals Mixing and Mastering Basics of synthesis Basics of sampling View requirements and course descriptions in the University Course CatalogClick here: Loading...
