Pre-Medical Track (MD & DO)

  • For DO students, emphasis should be placed on obtaining shadowing hours accrued from a reputable practicing DO, in addition to hours accrued in any other medical related setting. This is because some DO programs require (or strongly recommend) your application packet include a letter of recommendation from a DO.
  • In general, for MD or DO, these professional schools are not to be perceived as “interchangeable”. It must be clear to application reviewers why a student has chosen one or the other degree program.  Therefore, courses, pre-reqs, and shadowing opportunities must be tailored to reflect these deliberate choices.
