The MS in materials chemistry, a recent and unique offering at William Paterson University, provides chemists, chemistry educators, and materials scientists with a cutting-edge curriculum focused on the design and synthesis of next-generation materials. This program provides practical, employment-oriented training, and facilitates the advanced study of physical, chemical, and electromagnetic properties of biomaterials, nano-materials, polymers and other modern materials.
Our new graduate program in materials chemistry offers a research-based curriculum that will help students obtain the skills to succeed in cutting-edge scientific industries focused on the development and applications of advanced materials. Students in our program learn technologically advanced techniques for characterization of new materials using state-of-the-art scanning and transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, thermal analysis, NMR, and GC- Mass spectrometry, to name a few. Chemists and materials researchers seeking to advance their careers in industrial, government, and military laboratories will be well served by our program. Additionally, students who complete our program will be prepared for competitive doctoral programs in chemistry and materials science and engineering.
