Lismary Espinal, BS, CHES Major: Public Health Education, Class of 2013 Position: Health Educator Agency: Englewood Health Department Lismary Espinal graduated from William Paterson University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Education and minor in Sociology and is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES). Her internship was at the Englewood Health Department where she became the Youth Health Educator shortly after graduating. As the Youth Health Educator, Lismary primarily worked within the school district providing education on various topics such as self-esteem, drugs, and sexually transmitted infections for middle and high school students. After one year at the department Lismary moved to Florida and worked as the Health Educator for the Florida Department of Health in Orange County- Healthy Start/MomCare Program, where the primary focus was to improve maternal and child health. Currently Lismary is the Health Educator at the Englewood Health Department where she serves the city of Englewood by providing health education programs to Englewood residents, schools, senior groups, churches, and employees. She loves being able to create programs and provide education throughout the city. The Public Health Program at William Paterson University helped Lismary become familiar with the obstacles she would face in the field and familiarize herself with program planning and promotion which is key to successful programs.
