Librarians Retention Policy and Procedure for Part - Time Librarians

Part - Time Librarians with Three (3) Years Service or Less

The Policy and Procedure set out hereunder shall apply to part-time librarians with three (3) years or less than three (3) years service who are (a) employed in regular, recurrent positions, (b) work at least half of a full load, and (c) employed on either a one-year contract or on at least a second half-year contract occurring during any two (2) consecutive academic years.

I. Criteria for Reappointment

A. Evaluation of professional performance

After meeting with the part-time Librarian, the immediate supervisor will prepare a letter of evaluation and recommendation for each part-time Librarian and submit it to the head of the department.

B. Department review

The head of the department will forward a report together with his/her letter of evaluation and recommendation to the Director of the Library. The folders will then go to the Associate Vice President. The individual candidate shall be given an opportunity to respond to the supervisor's comments and recommendations. Any written response supplied by the candidate shall become part of the reappointment folder.

C. Provost and Executive Vice Presidential review

The Associate Vice President will forward the report of the department together with his/her letter of evaluation and recommendation to the Provost and Executive Vice President.

D. Provost and Executive Vice President decision

The Provost and Executive Vice President shall notify the part-time Librarian of his/her decision.
