New Alumni President Seeks to Connect Alumni Community

Creating programming for alumni that will keep them connected to the University is an ongoing focus for Douglas Hamilton ’75, new Alumni Association president.

Service to his alma mater is nothing new to Douglas Hamilton ’75 who currently holds the office of president of the University’s Alumni Association. A dedicated alumnus, Hamilton has spent the years since his graduation on various campus committees including, most recently, two years as treasurer of the Alumni Association, and as a donor to the University’s Annual Fund.

“I want to welcome alumni to William Paterson, to make it a part of their lives, and to create an environment that feels like home to them,” he says.

Hamilton believes strongly in giving back to the institution which supported his own studies with a four-year scholarship. “I felt I owed something to William Paterson,” he says. “I became a donor to the Annual Fund, but even more importantly, I wanted to give my time, because my scholarship was made possible by other alumni who worked hard to provide the money for my own education.”

Away from the campus, Hamilton is CFO and controller of GlobTek, Inc., an international, electronics power supply manufacturing company located in Northvale. He is the father of Douglas Hamilton, Jr. ’02, who graduated with a degree in communication and now works as a business manager for Macy’s in Herald Square.
