Kathleen J. Barnes Appointed Associate Dean of the Cotsakos College of Business at William Paterson University

Kathleen J. Barnes, an accomplished educator with more than 20 years of experience in academia, has been named associate dean of the Cotsakos College of Business at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. She has also been appointed as a professor of management. Her appointment is effective July 18, 2016.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Barnes join us at William Paterson,” says Siamack Shojai, dean, Cotsakos College of Business. “She brings a great deal of experience to her role that will help us in leading the College forward in the coming years.”

Barnes has 21 years of accomplished teaching experience in various areas of the management information systems field. Currently, she is a professor of management at University of New Haven College of Business.  She served as associate dean of the College from 2013 to 2015. Prior to that, she was associate professor of management at East Stroudsburg University and assistant professor at University of Wisconsin. 

Before beginning her career in higher education, Barnes spent 13 years in the banking industry as a senior consultant, marketing director, marketing and commercial lending officer, and senior credit analyst at various banks including Valley National Bank, State Bank of Chittenango, and Marine Midland Bank.

Barnes is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and proceedings in academic journals, including the Organization Management Journal.  She is actively engaged with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) as a presenter and contributor to the accreditation process. In addition, she served as president of the Eastern Academy of Management during 2015-2016, after many years of service as a program chair and vice president.

Barnes holds a PhD in organizational studies from the University at Albany, State University of New York and an MBA from Syracuse University.
