New Jersey Youth Symphony Will Perform at William Paterson University on March 18

The New Jersey Youth Symphony, featuring students from the Paterson Music Project, will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. The performance will take place in the University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.

The New Jersey Youth Symphony, the orchestral and ensemble arm of the Wharton Institute for Performing Arts, features 14 auditioned New Jersey ensembles in a performance for students in grades three through twelve. The musicians are from 78 communities and the symphony consists of three full orchestras, three string orchestras, two flute choirs, and a summer camp. Jeff Grogan is the artistic director and conductor.

Students from the Paterson Music Project will also be featured.  The Wharton Music Center provides after-school lessons to students at Community Charter School in Paterson, New Jersey, through the project.

Past music selections include Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Bernstein’s Candide Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
